Install Windows Mail on Windows 7

Windows Mail is a free email  and newsgroup client Microsoft introduced in Windows Vista to succeed Outlook Express. Both Windows Mail and Outlook Express (for Windows XP) is replaced by Windows Live Mail, an e-mail client downloadable as part of Windows Live Essentials suite of products. Thus, Windows 7 does not pre-installed or bundled with any email client, including Windows Mail.
Newer Windows Live Mail client definitely has much more features, but users need to accustom to the new user interface of the Windows Live Mail. User who wants to use legacy Windows Mail in Windows 7, it’s possible to extract and port Windows Mail from Windows Vista to install in Windows 7.

  1. In order to install and use Windows Mail in Windows 7, just copy the complete content (all files  and folders) inside %SystemDrive%\Program Files\Windows Mail\ folder in Windows Vista, and overwrites or replaces the same folder on Windows 7 system to port over and migrate Windows Mail.
  2. If you don’t have has Windows Vista system, download the Windows Mail system files from internet.
  3. Grant full control permissions and ownership to administrators for %SystemDrive%\Program Files\Windows Mail\ folder in Windows 7 system.
  4. Create a shortcut on desktop or Start Menu that points to %SystemDrive%\Program Files\Windows Mail\winmail.exe executable.

web development

Apache DerbyASP (Microsoft proprietary)AjaxWeb development is a broad term for the work involved in developing a web site for the Internet (World Wide Web) or an intranet (a private network). This can include web design, web content development, client liaison, client-side/server-side scripting, web server and network security configuration, and e-commerce development. However, among web professionals, “web development” usually refers to the main non-design aspects of building web sites: writing markup and coding. Web development can range from developing the simplest static single page of plain text to the most complex web-based internet applications, electronic businesses, or social network services.
For larger organizations and businesses, web development teams can consist of hundreds of people (web developers). Smaller organizations may only require a single permanent or contracting webmaster, or secondary assignment to related job positions such as a graphic designer and/or information systems technician. Web development may be a collaborative effort between departments rather than the domain of a designated department.

Typical Areas

Web Development can be split into many areas and a typical and basic web development hierarchy might consist of:

Client Side Coding

  • Ajax
  • Flash
  • Microsoft Silverlight
  • JavaScript

Server Side Coding

  • ASP (Microsoft proprietary)
  • PHP (open source)
  • .NET (Microsoft proprietary)
  • ColdFusion (Adobe proprietary, formerly Macromedia)
  • CGI and/or Perl (open source)
  • Groovy (programming language) Grails (framework)
  • Java, e.g. Java EE or WebObjects
  • Lotus Domino
  • Python, e.g. Django (web framework) (open source)
  • Ruby, e.g. Ruby on Rails (open source)
  • Smalltalk e.g. Seaside, AIDA/Web
  • SSJS Server-Side JavaScript, e.g. Aptana Jaxer, Mozilla Rhino
  • Websphere (IBM proprietary)

Database Technology

  • Apache Derby
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • DB2 (IBM proprietary)
  • MySQL
  • SQLite
  • Oracle
  • PostgreSQL
  • Sybase
  • Firebird

Web design

ISSUES
To understand Web design, it is critical to understand design first and technology second. What is Web Design? develops design principles that will be as relevant to future technological developments as they are to current ones.

Although Web design is the most celebrated area of design, it draws on many other areas, and by putting it in context this book makes Web design easier to understand. Technical platforms are lucidly discussed and illustrated, and the component elements of Web design are explained and contextualised.

What is Web Design? also places Web design in the context of what is possible and the challenges presented by future technologies and scenarios of use. Awareness of these developments will equip designers to address the future effectively.

ANATOMY
Web design does not exist in a vacuum. The client and people with the skills to help realise Web design projects are key to the process. What is Web Design? takes an objective view of these relationships, and stresses the need for designers to understand and empathise with these partners in the pursuit of a common goal.

A good idea is only as good as its final implementation. Getting to this point requires mastering many processes. This book isn’t prescriptive about these processes but establishes basic principles and a step-by-step approach that will increase the chance of a project being a success. This section includes a diagram visualising a possible project workflow.

CASE STUDIES
What happens when theory and process are put into practice? The book concludes by telling the stories of ten design projects, from the perspectives of the people involved in their commissioning, designing, and engineering. These case studies present material showing the development of the project – idea maps, sketches, wireframes, flow charts, design treatments, design ideas in development (and those that were rejected), and documentation – and places projects in the context of working environments.

The case studies are: Trilogy’s FordDirect project, Dimension Data’s ManUtd.com site, MetaDesign’s identity for The Ocean Conservancy, Cooper’s interfaces for Shared Healthcare Systems, the Compass decision-making tools created by Visual I|O, a home page re-design for Bolt.com, the user interface design for BodyMedia’s health research data retrieval and analysis software, the re-design of the BT Group Human Resources intranet by Xymbio, Contempt’s eDesign magazine project, and Organic’s design for the MONY Independent Network extranet.
